What are the differences between welding guns and cutting guns

Release time:2024-11-20 16:34:39 Author:松达焊割设备 Number of clicks:90

Functional purpose: Welding gun: mainly used to connect two or more metal parts together. By generating heat, the welding wire (melting electrode welding) or the edge of the welded part (non melting electrode welding) is melted, forming a molten pool, and after cooling, a strong connection is formed. For example, in automobile body manufacturing, welding guns weld various stamped metal parts into a complete body frame, protecting the strength and integrity of the body

Cutting gun: used for cutting metal materials. It uses an oxygen gas flame to heat metal to its ignition point, and then oxidizes and blows away the metal with a high-speed oxygen flow to achieve the purpose of cutting. For example, in a metalworking workshop, a cutting gun can be used to cut large steel plates into the desired shape and size

Working principle

Welding gun:

Gas welding gun: Combustible gas (such as acetylene) is mixed with oxygen and burned to produce a high-temperature flame, which serves as a heat source to melt the weldment and welding wire.

. For example, when using a gas welding gun to weld copper pipes, adjust the ratio of oxygen and acetylene, and the flame generated will heat and melt the copper pipe and copper welding wire, causing them to fuse together

Electric welding gun: generates resistance heat by passing current through the welding wire (melting electrode), or in non melting electrode welding, generates an arc between the electrode and the workpiece, and the high temperature of the arc melts the edge of the workpiece. Taking the melting electrode carbon dioxide gas shielded welding as an example, the welding wire serves as the electrode and generates heat to melt under the action of current. At the same time, under the protection of carbon dioxide gas, the molten droplets transition into the weld pool to complete the welding

Cutting gun: When the cutting gun is working, it first mixes combustible gases (such as acetylene, propane, etc.) with oxygen to produce a high-temperature flame, heating the metal material to the ignition point (about 1300-1350 ℃ for ordinary carbon steel). Then, another path of cutting oxygen is sprayed out at high speed, reacting with the metal heated to the ignition point for oxidation. The generated oxide is blown away by the high-speed oxygen flow, causing the metal to be cut open

Structure composition

Welding gun:

Gas welding gun: mainly composed of combustible gas nozzle, oxygen nozzle, regulating valve, handle, etc. Combustible gas and oxygen mix and burn at the nozzle, and the regulating valve is used to control the gas flow rate and flame size. The handle is easy to operate

Welding gun: including electrode clamp (used to clamp welding rods or wires), conductive nozzle (to transmit current to welding rods or wires), cable, handle, switch and other components

Cutting gun: It mainly consists of a gun body, handle, gas nozzle, oxygen nozzle, mixing chamber, and gas delivery system. The gun body is the core part, with gas channels inside; The handle is used to grip and control valves; The gas nozzle and oxygen nozzle respectively deliver combustible gas and combustion supporting gas, and the mixing chamber is used to mix the two gases. The gas delivery system confirms stable gas supply

Flame characteristics

Welding gun: The flame of a gas welding gun is mainly used to heat and melt metal, and the flame temperature is adjusted according to the welding material and process requirements, generally slightly lower than that of a cutting gun flame.

. For example, when welding aluminum and aluminum alloys with a gas welding gun, the flame temperature can be adjusted to about 2000-2300 ℃, and the properties of the flame (such as carbonization flame, neutral flame, oxidation flame) need to be flexibly adjusted according to the welding situation to achieve good welding quality

Cutting gun: The flame temperature of the cutting gun is relatively high, usually reaching around 3000 ℃. The purpose is to heat the metal to the ignition point at a suitable speed, and it requires strong flame energy to support the subsequent oxidation cutting process. The main focus of the cutting gun flame during the cutting process is the intensity and stability of the flame to protect the smooth progress of the cutting

Operation requirements and skills

Welding gun:

During welding, it is necessary to accurately control the heat input to avoid excessive melting that may cause deformation or burning through of the welded part.

. For example, in thin plate welding, a smaller flame or lower current should be used while controlling the welding speed

For gas welding, it is necessary to be proficient in adjusting the gas ratio to obtain appropriate flame properties. For electric welding, appropriate parameters such as electrode (wire) diameter, welding current, and voltage should be selected based on the thickness and material of the workpiece

Cutting gun:

When operating the cutting gun, maintain a stable posture and appropriate cutting angle (usually perpendicular to the material being cut) to confirm that the incision is flat.

It is necessary to accurately control the cutting speed. If the speed is too slow, the incision will be too wide and there will be too much slag. If the speed is too fast, it may lead to incomplete cutting. At the same time, it is necessary to adjust the flame size and cutting oxygen flow rate reasonably to adapt to metal cutting of different thicknesses and materials
